President Draupadi Murmu will be in both houses of Parliament today

President Draupadi Murmu addressed the joint session of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha on Thursday (June 27). During her speech, she outlined the priorities of the new government.

Key Points from the Address:

1. Discussion on Elections: President Murmu mentioned that the world is discussing the recent elections in India. She highlighted how the people of India have formed a stable government with a majority for the third consecutive time. This remark caused a commotion among the opposition members. She extended her congratulations to Om Birla and the Election Commission, praising them for conducting the world’s largest election. She also commended the high participation of women and the significant voter turnout in Kashmir.

2. National Highways and Connectivity: The President stated that over 380,000 km of roads have been constructed, and the pace of building national highways has doubled. Extensive work is being done for connectivity in the North East, including a semiconductor plant in Assam costing INR 27,000 crore.

3. Stable Government: She emphasized that the world is observing how the people of India have chosen a government with a clear majority. This is the first time in six decades. She noted that people have placed their trust in her government for the third time, and the government is committed to making India the third-largest economy in the world.

4. Natural Farming and Supply Chain: The President noted the growing global demand for organic products and mentioned that the government is strengthening natural farming and supply chains.

5. Yoga and Ayush: She highlighted the global celebration of Yoga Day and stated that promoting Yoga and Ayush contributes to a healthier environment.

6. Green Energy and Mobility: The President mentioned the upcoming Green Era and assured that the government is taking all necessary steps for green energy and green mobility.

7. Service Sector and Employment: The government is focused on strengthening the service sector, leading to new employment opportunities.

8. Rural Economy: Over the past ten years, the government has worked extensively for the rural economy. Addressing the storage issues faced by small farmers, the government is working on the world’s largest storage scheme and has provided INR 3.2 lakh crore in respect to farmers. The government has also made a record increase in the MSP for Kharif crops.

9. Public Transport: In April 2014, India had 209 airline boards, which have increased to 605 in 2024. The Vande Metro project is underway, and efforts are being made to make public transport among the best in the world so that India can stand alongside developed nations.

During the President’s address, opposition members raised slogans and caused disruptions. President Murmu asked them to listen and elaborated on the government’s plans and achievements.
