Diehard Mirzapur fans have to wait no longer, as the third season of the much-awaited hit show is finally going to release on Amazon Prime Video in a day’s time. The series, featuring stars like Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, Vijay Varma, and Shweta Tripathi, will start streaming on July 5 at 12 a.m. IST. After a long three-year wait, the third season promises intense drama, revenge, and power struggles.
Mirzapur’s first season was an instant hit, released in 2018. It is the story of revenge and redemption. The show actually made Pankaj Tripathi, who was seen as Kaleen Bhai, a household name.
It was Mirzapur that started a wave of mafia-themed shows in Indian cinema and on OTT platforms. At the end of the second season, Kaleen Bhai’s son and dreaded Munna Bhai, played by Divyendu Sharma, is killed by Guddu.
Kaleen Bhai is on the run after Guddu (Ali Fazal) and Golu (Shweta Tripathi Sharma) try to kill him. Kaleen Bhaiya’s wife, played by Rasika Dugal, and close aide, Maqbool, murder Kulbhushan Kharbanda’s Bauji. Vijay Varma, who was seen in a double role as Bade (Shatrughan) and Chote (Bharat), one of the brothers, gets killed following a shootout. Bharat is killed.
All the major characters, including Ali Fazal, Shweta Tripathi, Pankaj Tripathi, Rasika Dugal, Vijay Varma, Harshita Gaur, Priyanshu Painyulli, Rajesh Tailang, Isha Talwar, Anjum Sharma, and Sheeba Chadha, will reprise their roles in the third season of Mirzapur as well.
Like its predecessors, season 3 of Mirzapur will also have 10 episodes, each running over 45 minutes. As per the trailer for Mirzapur 3, it is shown that after the death of Munna Tripathi and the disappearance of Kaleen Bhai, Guddu will stake claim to the gaddi (throne of Purvanchal). Golu and Beena Tripathi are there with him.
The trailer also hints at the return of Kaleen Bhai, about whom Guddu and Golu are unaware. Mirzapur 3 is directed by Gurmeet Singh and Anand Iyer.
